Skye was recently voted '4th best island in the world’ by National Geographic magazine. Tom will show you why, with his personal photographic tour of some of his favourite locations, sharing his expert knowledge of how to photograph them.

The island really is a place of extremes with some of the most spectacular highland scenery Scotland has to offer – shattered peaks, plummeting sea cliffs and white coral beaches. Tom will guide you to some of Skye’s most famous sights such as the Trotternish peninsula, the Old Man of Storr and The Cuillins at Elgol.

You’ll meet Tom in the hotel lounge before dinner on the first evening, and then rise the following morning to catch the first light of day. We won't have to go far for gorgous views of the Cullins as the hotel is ideally situated to capture the first light on the mountains. Each day will be spent out in the field, with a break for a packed lunch. There is a moderate amount of hiking involved, so you’ll need to have a reasonable level of fitness. We will hike up to the Old Man of Storr before sunrise one morning to photograph one of the best views in Britain. This is a strenuous, steep hike, but the views are worth it.

You’re also encouraged to bring along your own work for critiquing and, on one of the evenings, Tom will present a slide show of his work.

All workshops are limited to only 5 people to insure individual tuition so book early.

I'd like to thank you again for the workshop. It really gave me invaluable experience and just watching how a professional works out in the field was really great for me. I think watching you made me realize that I need to slow down and think more about what I'm trying to capture then just going out and snapping away at every little thing I see.
