Tom Mackie has been a photographer all his working life, spanning 35 years (and counting). Whilst working as an industrial photographer in Los Angeles, Tom set about travelling in the Western States, before discovering the beauty of those vast ‘cinemascope’ panoramas. In 1985 he moved to the UK, to pursue a full-time career as a landscape photographer.

His talents have won accolades from The British Institute of Professional Photographers, the Ilford Awards and Business Calendar Awards. In addition to his workshops, Tom is a regular lecturer and contributor to magazines.

“My primary aim for the people who come on my workshops is to teach them how to spot a good image and then to capture it in their cameras in a way they can take with them and use again and again.”

Whether it’s in a small group (of up to 6) or one-to-one with Tom’s undivided attention, the photo workshops are taught with the aim of getting the maximum from you, your camera and the landscape beyond in a practical and relaxed way, regardless of whatever experience

you have. It doesn’t matter if you use the latest digital SLR or a large format plate film camera, come and learn from one of the World’s most experienced, respected and creative landscape photographers.

I want people to leave feeling the passion I have for making pictures and translate that into real results they would be happy to put on their walls at home.”

Whether it’s overlooking a magnificent Lake District vista, watching the leaves drop in New England in autumn or drinking in a beautiful sunrise over a misty, tranquil Scottish Loch, Tom will bring you into his magical world of photographic alchemy – and unlock

its secrets. He enables you to see the landscape in front of you with new eyes, but more than that, to gently mould it to your will with skilled technique and camera craft to produce images that you’d not thought possible before. His hands-on, practical and infinitely patient style will soon have you creating image masterpieces.

"Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for a terrific course. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and thought the whole set up was just great. It has made me want to get out and take better landscape photos. Thanks for all your tips and advice they were much appreciated and thanks for taking us to such beautiful venues."- Marcus Sandy
