With rugged granite peaks rising sheer out of the icy-blue Arctic Sea, vast white-sand beaches, picturesque fishing villages dotted with traditional red-roofed cottages, and amazing light conditions – including the awe-inspiring Aurora Borealis – it’s no wonder the Lofoten Islands are revered as one of the world’s top ten photographic destinations. Now you can experience all this for yourself in my Lofoten Winter Photography Workshop.

February is the perfect time and place for enjoying and improving your landscape photography. At this time of year, the mountains are more likely to be covered in snow, revealing their texture and form. Sunrise is a respectable 8:45 approx. and sets about 16:00.

Based near Reine – recently voted the most beautiful village in the world – this workshop is a great opportunity to enjoy your imaging on holiday with like-minded people, amongst spectacular scenery, with each day an exploration of this truly unique photographic paradise. I’ve travelled extensively around the archipelago and will be able to take you to a wide range of spectacular, unspoilt locations for sunrise, sunsets, auroras, dramatic skies and more.

All of my photography workshops are limited to just 6 people to ensure individual tuition, great socially and best of all, you won't have to scramble around loads of other tripods at locations. So book early to secure your place as this workshop is likely to fill quickly.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP DETAILS

This workshop is suitable for photographers of all skill levels, though you should have a basic understanding how to use your camera.
Fitness level: moderate-most photography will be within walking distance to the van. There will be areas of uneven ground and slick boulders on coastlines to negotiate. At this time of year, it is essential to wear ice grippers on your boots when the conditions require them.

Accomodation is in traditional 'rorbuer' (fishermen's cottages) with private rooms, shared bathroom and kitchen.

On a typical day, we will be out before sunrise to capture the first light on the dramatic snow-covered mountains, then back for breakfast together in a designated cabin. Then, back out again for the day to explore traditional fishing villages, mountain scenery and coastlines. There will be times when we will stay in for image critiques and tuition on post-processing workflow using Lightroom. We finish the day at a sunset location before heading back for a hearty dinner. When the skies are clear, we head out in search of auroras.

Recommended flights: Flights to Oslo-Bodo-Leknes from the UK we recommend SAS. There are early flights at 7:05 from Heathrow to Oslo, then on to Bodo and finally arriving in Leknes at 15:45. Please arrange your flight to arrive at this time or before. Flights arriving from other countries can link with SAS in Norway.

Arrange your return flight on the 22nd for 11:40 departure.

A deposit of £350 is taken to secure your place. The balance of £2,545 is due before December 31, 2018.

Hi Tom, as I was working through my images I just want to say thank you so very much for a great week in the Lofoten Islands.
The organisation, accommodation and eating places and arrangements were excellent and the venues that you took us too gave me a wide experience of what the Islands have to offer.
Also thank you for your companionship and technical support and advice. Focus stacking and using Photoshop are subjects for me to develop with confidence in the future!!

Les Stringer
